Gym?
Even I as a doctor want to get back to the gym. But I realize the increased risk of contracting Covid 19. Currently, I work out in my basement, using a stationary bike and light weights, but this is nothing approaching the equipment available at the gym. (Everyone who is working out, keep doing whatever workout or regular activity you can.) The gyms communicate all the procedures they have in place to keep the public safe but I think of all the aerosolized droplets of potential Covid 19 existing in the air from people huffing and puffing during their workouts. Questions remain; Should a person wear a simple mask? What about eye protection—swim goggles? Motorcycle goggles? Face shield? Maybe even an N95 mask—not possible with the reduce airflow. I discussed these questions with the Infectious disease specialist at the Hospital. He concurs. Too much risk at this time. I think I will wait until the pandemic wanes. It’s summer, I can still get 17,000 steps while walking 18 holes of golf. named above.
